PIAA
Girls' Diving: Trinity's Ashley
Buchter captures Class AA silver
medal.
Trinity freshman Ashley Buchter
made a successful PIAA
Championships debut Friday
afternoon when she took second
in the Class AA diving
competition at Bucknell
University's Kinney Natatorium.
Buchter,
who won a District 3-AA title in
late February, trailed two-time
defending champion Catherine
Rose of Allentown Central
Catholic by just one point
heading into the final dive of
the meet.
Buchter's reverse, double
somersault tuck netted a score
of 29.90. Rose, meanwhile,
finished up with a forward, 1
1/2 somersault, double twist for
44.20 points to clinch her third
straight state title.

Caroline
Finkbeiner
DISTRICT 3
CHAMPION.
Caroline Finkbeiner led
wire-to-wire in the 200 and 500
freestyle
events. She dropped almost 4
seconds from her seed time and 2
seconds from her personal best
with a 1:52.99, and then dropped
a 5:01.53 in her 500 free.
“I was so excited to get a time
like that, because it’s
something I’ve been working
toward the whole season,”
Finkbeiner said. The
Trinity girls 200 medley
relay also has a great shot
at qualifying for the state meet
(one of the "at large" bids).
The team of Alison Dundore, Alex
Leandri, Karlee Hoke, and
Caroline Finkbeiner swam their
season best time of 1:56.29.
Karlee Hoke also looks
for a state bid in her lifetime
best times in the 200 free and
500 free as well.

Full Results are

“It’s
been a lot of hard work to make
it to this point,” said Buchter,
who beat Ashley McDonald’s 2004
record of 407.50 with an 11-dive
effort of 423.00.
“It’s really significant [to win

do so good.” Ashley will
advance to the PIAA State
Championship (March 19-20) at
Bucknell along with our swimmers
who will have their
District meet at CV (March
5-6) to determine who will join
